College Ministry

Flagstaff Christian Fellowship College Ministry LogoFCF is located downtown, just north of the NAU campus. Our proximity to the university is just one of the reasons FCF has had a vision for College Ministry for many years. FCF has been blessed to have a full-time college pastor on staff for the past 20 years. Dan Barton and his wife Patti have created a unique college ministry that is focused on the gospel, discipleship, evangelism, and integrating college students into the life and community of a local church.

With Dan's retirement on October 31st, 2020, FCF's College Ministry is entering a new phase - but still with the same strong focus on creating a church home for college students.

Leadership

FCF's College Ministry is led by Dylan & Katie Newman, a young couple in the church that previously interned under Dan Barton's leadership. Joining Dylan and Katie are three current College Interns - Abby, Micayla, and Sara. Dan Barton has been part of the transition team and will continue to serve on the college ministry team until his retirement.

Vision

FCF's College Ministry Team views our primary role as being a bridge between FCF and NAU. Our vision for College Ministry includes:

  • Sunday morning sermon - Student attendance on Sunday morning is central to our vision. We encourage students to prioritize attending the Sunday sermon and emphasize the importance of integrating with the church body.
  • Home fellowships - Our team sees an incredible opportunity to build multigenerational unity between college students and the church. Home fellowships are a great place to create touch points between students and church members, and a way to bring students deeper into the church community. We strongly encourage students to commit to a home fellowship.
  • Sermon Study - College ministry will host one co-ed sermon-based study on Thursday nights for college students. This night will have two components: 1) Discussion of the previous Sunday sermon, and 2) Focused time of prayer for the church.
  • Serve, Disciple, and Evangelize - We will minimize the number of weekly college ministry events in order to give students time to serve within FCF, experience discipling relationships, and evangelize. Our hope is that college students will be discipled by older church members and will become equipped to disciple younger believers.

College Students - We hope that you will visit FCF on a Sunday morning to worship with us and we hope that you will be greeted and welcomed to our College Ministry. If no one in the College Ministry greets you, ask to be introduced to a College Ministry leader. We want to meet you! Hope to see you on a Sunday morning!
