Dave Berry installed as Senior Pastor

FCF Installs New Senior Pastor Dave Berry

This past Sunday, December 9, 2018, the baton was passed from outgoing pastor of 26 years to incoming pastor Dave Berry.  Berry will now serve as FCF’s Senior Pastor and primary preacher going forward.  Berry takes the Sunday morning pulpit the following Sunday.

We praise God for His faithfulness in this transition process.  Berry has been able to settle into Flagstaff over the past month, getting to know the congregation.  Cole plans to continue to attend FCF underneath Berry’s preaching.

The following vows were taken during the morning services;

For Incoming Pastor Dave Berry

By God’s grace, do you now covenant by the strength, opportunity and wisdom the Spirit provides:

             That you believe the Gospel of our Triune God and reaffirm your faith in the substitutionary, atoning death of Jesus Christ, his bodily resurrection from the grave, and worship Him as your Lord and Savior?

That you affirm the inerrancy, infallibility, authority, sufficiency, and beauty of the canon of Christian Scripture?

That you sincerely believe that the Statement of Faith and Covenant of this church contain truth taught in Holy Scripture and represent wise application of biblical principles according to Hebrews 13:7 to lead a life worthy of imitation by the saints?

According to Acts 20:28 and Hebrews 13:17 to pay careful attention to yourself, your fellow elders, and keep joyful watch over the souls of this flock at Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, in which the Holy Spirit is making you an overseer, as one who will give an account to God for each of them?

According to James 3:1 to always preach Christ with the day of God’s strict judgment for teachers in mind?

Are you now willing to take personal responsibility in the life of this congregation as an elder to oversee the ministry and resources of the church, and to devote yourself to prayer, the ministry of the Word and the shepherding of God’s flock, relying upon the grace of God, in such a way that Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, and the entire church of Jesus Christ will be blessed?

For The Covenant Members Of The Congregation

By God’s grace, do you, the members, deacons, and elders of Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, covenant:: 

             In keeping with 1 Timothy 3 to pray for and encourage this man and his family, that their lending of their husband and father in service to this church would be a joyful and delightful partnership in the gospel?

That you would pray he serves and leads his fellow elders well to the glory of God?

According to Colossians 4:2 to pray for this man, that God may open a door for the Word, to declare the mystery of Christ, that he might make it clear, as he ought to speak?

According to Hebrews 13:17 to obey this man, and submit to him, remembering that he is keeping watch over your souls, as one who will give an account to God? Will you let him keep his watch and oversight with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you?

According to Galatians 6:6 and 1 Timothy 5:17 to generously honor and provide for this man, as appropriate to his position, as he labors among you for your joy and progress in the faith?

According to Acts 20 to pray that this man will finish his race and ministry he has received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of grace of God, with joy?

Do you, the members of Flagstaff Christian Fellowship, acknowledge and publicly receive this man as a pastor-elder, as a gift of Christ to this church? Will you love him and pray for him in his ministry, and work together with him humbly and cheerfully, that by the grace of God you may accomplish the mission of the church, giving him all due honor and support in his leadership to which the Lord of the church has called him, to the glory and honor of God?
